Character Creation

I liked the basic characters that started in the original Victoriana campaign, so I think that’s the right amount of character points to start with. However, I plan to be a little stricter on the types of disadvantages I allow to be strung together to be more in line with official book rules as I am wont to do. So, in order to keep the same rough starting power level as Victoriana I think I’m going to have to up the points in that case. So…

Characters will be made with 75 base points, with up to 50 points of Disadvantages. System is Heroes 5th edition.

Restrictions

  • Humans STRONGLY PREFERRED. I am willing to discuss something with a human origin, such as a werewolf (but NO vampires or other undead OF ANY KIND), but be prepared for me to say NO. If I do allow such characters, they will be in extremely limited number, so if you have your heart set on a non-human, ask me quick, before someone else beats you to the punch.
  • No regular OSS or SIS agents. If you’re in the SIS or OSS and involved in this campaign then it’s because you’ve been assigned to the AOS or the APA. Regular army IS acceptable.
  • No OIU or PWS. The OIU is the enemy, and the PWS will be rivals. I’m not interested in running any turncoats either, so that track is unfortunately closed.
  • You must have a national origin that is represented in theater (i.e. your character has to have a valid reason for being in Fortress Europe at this time). Accepted nationalities: American (including Japanese-American), British, Canadian, French, German (must be Customs Agency), Italian ex-patriot. Sorry, no Russians, they’re on the other side of Germany from where the campaign is.
  • Any others I chose to add later, with or without notice, on my sole whim, by my omnipotent GM’s authority, yada yada yada…

Beyond that, the sky’s (and 75 base points with up to 50 points of Disadvantages) the limit. ALL characters require my final approval.

Note: The Nazis are everyone’s enemies, and out to get the whole world pretty much. Characters may therefore NOT take disadvantages based on Nazi organizations hunting them. That’s something EVERYONE has to deal with, even the Germans. Now, if you have a specific Nazi that knows who you are, and has a particular hard-on for you…that’s different.

New Sense: Mystic Awareness. Functions Like Mental Awareness, but with magic. Costs 5 points, but characters that purchase magic spells automatically get it at no cost. Characters may use the Disadvantage: Does Not Provide Mystical Awareness (-1/4) on their spells if desired.

Campaign Specific Skills

A reminder, characters do have to purchase their basic load out of weapons and equipment. In the case of military characters this will represent their standard combat load out. For a listing of the basic weapons used by the various field armies and to get a general idea of how I expect firearms to work in this campaign, see the Handheld Firearms wiki-page.
